I might be returning to audi/vw soon...
« on: March 09, 2010, 07:14:05 PM »

BMW is being a pain about my intake. They are saying that my intake caused my transmission squeak. Well the squeak was caused by a hose in the engine bay and the trans is fine. But BMW is now saying that all future work will be under investigation and any problems will be blamed on the intake. So its like I have no powertrain warranty just because of an intake which is insane.

I guess I might be going to test drive some s4/s5 and caymans soon.  ;D

first tischer then northwest. the shop foreman at northwest tried to say that an intake could over power the trans, lol. Even though bmw itself sells a tune and other performance parts, some how my intake caused a problem.

Do you know how much a bmw engine or transmission cost if I dont have a warranty? A few k downpayment on a new car is much much much much much less then buying a new engine and paying for an install if something happens to break over the next 3.5 years that I plan to keep the car.

It would be crazy to have such an expensive car with no warranty. Im still negotiating with bmw on the issue. Id much rather keep the 335 since I love it. But without a warranty ill move on.

I realize that. But im sure you knew pretty damn well that mods and such could possibly void warranties..we all do.. try out a few more shops.

try some other shops or call some higher-ups at BMW. I know if you have issues at dealers with vdubs sometimes it helps to call Volkswagen of America and they sort it out (sometims) and individual vw dealers have different policies on mods as to whether or not they care about them etc.

Whitey get your own joke and I am next to George on this one as well BMW takes a big hit any time a warranty job comes in so to minimise a loss they look for any bullshit excuse to "void" a warranty think it's time to move on

Well the official word from bmw is that I have a warranty but they can deny me in the future if my mods are thought to have caused a problem.

Heres what bmw said.

1. the car has an intake. this is true.
2. the car has a full exhaust system. this is false, i only have a muffler delete and tips. the midpipes, cats, downpipes are stock.
3. they said that I have a blow off valve and a electronic controller to open the blow off valve. this is also incorrect, i have a boost gauge. How they confused a boost gauge for a blow off valve and electronic controller i dont know.
