RAI Shop
« on: February 17, 2010, 01:21:30 AM »

Anyone in Baltimore know of these guys? I saw a link on the MKV forum and they stock Motul oil. I am thinking of giving them a try but was hoping that some one had work done or my other thought was NGP . They are just farther away. Anyone know of a ether place?

I used to deal with Rai few years ago when thay first got started (I worked for them till I had to move to Norfolk) and thay were a great shop when I was there there prices beat NGP on labor Ngp as far as I know has more parts in stock but for labor Rai, I don't know about there service now I heard some bad stuff come across vortex and by word of mouth some contravercy but no comfermation but with any shop you are going to get that (lots of he said she said thay did thay didn't ) as far as Ngp I have heard alot of good and some bad as well but I have never dealt with them on labor ( I do all my own work) just parts. But how most people look for a shop go to both and get a feel and see who your more comfortable with I am not going to tell you who to go to or bash any shop (vwvortex does it enough) but as with any thing do your research but like I said I do all my own work so to me a shop is just like a grocery store I follow the deals

I had a bad incident with them the first time I ever dealt with them.  I went down there with a couple friends who were picking up parts to get an immobilizer defeat done on a chipped ecu, and to make before and after dyno pulls. Well right after they did it we swapped it back in the car on the dyno and it was in what i thought at the time to be limp mode and we couldnt figure out why. Unfortunately R.A.I really didnt wanna help resolve the issue they just told me they would sell me UNI software for $50 off. After numerous calls to them and after contacting Mike Z from unitronic on his DIRECT line, lol, i found out that it had REVO software after R.A.I. sent him the map and he broke it down. I found later that the ecu defaulted to valet mode. So i borrowed a buddies REVO programmer and boom, fixed.  It just left a bad taste in my mouth and I'll probably never go back.
